Overview: The Medical Laboratory Scientist Apprentice performs procedures relative to this technical skill level for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and works as part of a team with general supervision from technical or supervisory staff. Responsible for verification of proper patient/specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders, processes samples for testing, and loads samples onto instruments as appropriate according to procedures.
