Overview:   The Student Nurse Anesthetist (SNA) is a participant in the Student Sponsorship program which is designed to provide a SNA an opportunity to secure employment for their future role of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) that includes leadership, direction, and feedback to care team members, assessment, collaboration, and the coordination regarding plan of care, patient and family education, pain management, patient safety, and planning for patient discharge. The SNA functions under the direct supervision of a CRNA mentor while carrying out designated skills that she/he has learned in educational programs and/or orientation and has demonstrated competence to her/his unit manager or CRNA mentor. The SNA will serve as a member of the Anesthesia Care Team in a medically directed capacity to provide safe, appropriate anesthetics for a variety of patients.
