Overview: The Ambulatory RN focuses on validation of existing information and completion of preparation of the patient for their surgical/procedural experience. The professional registered nurse assesses the patient and develops a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of the patient/family/significant other. This individual also assesses the patient post procedure and determines if discharge criteria is met and plans appropriate teaching for a safe and comfortable discharge. Overview: The Graduate Nurse is responsible and accountable for assisting the patient to move safely and effectively through the hospitalization. The primary Graduate Nurse responsibilities include leadership, direction and feedback to care team members; assessment, collaboration and coordination regarding plan of care; patient and family education; pain management; patient safety; and planning for patient discharge under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse mentor.  Performs other duties as assigned. The Graduate Nurse is a temporary status pending Registered Nurse licensure and successful completion of the Michigan Registered Nurse Board examination within 45 days of hire for external candidates or GN status change for internal hires.
