Section I:   Brief Summary of the job.  The Accountant is responsible for processing the City’s payroll on a biweekly basis.  In addition to payroll processing, the Accountant performs a number of general accounting duties including cash balancing, special assessment processing and general ledger reconciliations.   The Accountant must be able to understand and implement complex payroll items.    This position utilizes a computerized payroll system to compile and record employee time and payroll data; compute employees' time worked, compute and post wages and deductions and prepare manual paychecks. Furthermore, the need for any payroll-related training, communication, reporting and reconciliations to the general ledger are handled by the Accountant. Job Purpose This position will be responsible for various general accounting responsibilities, with an emphasis on daily payroll processing, payroll posting, and reconciliations. Duties & Responsibilities Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times. Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating and inputting payroll data for employees. Help maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
