Position Summary
Directs the development, coordination, and administration of the Division of Gastroenterology (GI), including policies, services and programs. Participates in the development and implementation of financial and strategic planning activities. Facilitates quality improvement initiatives and integration of organizational values.
Responsible for leading and facilitating the development of vision and strategic plans. Responsible for the program’s overall financial performance. Monitors program volume, and works to improve the program’s cost structure, productivity, and revenue position. Develops and implements strategic and tactical business plans including operational goals and performance targets which are consistent with the mission of White Plains Hospital. Works closely with Vice President Operations, Physician and Nursing Leadership in preparation, monitoring and management of the operational efficiency, quality, strategic goals, and business plans.
Collaborates with medical leadership to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement. Organizes, manages, and facilitates programmatic initiatives and staff to support core measures, regulatory and other data measurements, including related performance improvement activities and Joint Commission/CMS compliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
- Strategic Planning
- Researches, develops, and coordinates the implementation of strategic plans, policies and standards to include maximizing market share, growth strategies, expense control, space allocation, and technological equipment and information systems purchases.
- Promotes quality and performance improvements through involvement in the development of enhanced procedures, process innovations and changes that support the strategic direction
- Plans and implements the utilization of information resources to support operations and future planning.
- Leads the development and expansion of specialized GI programs.
- Business Operations
- Reviews the comprehensiveness of the service on an ongoing basis and develops strategies for program adaptation to market changes.
- Coordinates, develops, and executes public relations and communication programs for the organization’s internal and external audiences.
- Works alongside the Marketing department to develop and implement policies, plans, and procedures which capitalize on current and future marketing opportunities.
- Participates in and implements business development projects.
- Directs the management of professional contacts and community support through identifying and developing new business initiatives.
- Finds new opportunities, tests new ideas, and ensures execution.
- Financial Management
- Participates in planning, organizing, and coordinating financial practices to control revenues, disburse funds and conserve assets.
- Monitors fiscal operations, including fiscal accounting, reporting and control, billing and payroll, third-party reimbursement and contracting, regulatory cost reporting, internal auditing, and budgeting coordination and forecasting.
- Assists in fundraising efforts to secure resources for hospital and divisional initiatives.
- Human Resources
- Works alongside the Human Resource and Clinical department leaders department to achieve strategic goals and objectives, including organizational development, recruiting, compensation, training and development, employee engagement and relations.
- Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports and oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
- Information Management
- Reviews and directs the planning, design, implementation, and support of information systems, networks, and applications to support service line operations.
- Organizational Governance
- Upholds and communicates the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Liaises with various departments including Administration, Finance and Operations departments, as well as senior management and physicians/medical staff to ensure optimal coordination and communication to meet operational goals and strategic initiatives.
- Patient Care Systems
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, and support staff to maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.
- Upholds and promotes the value of patient experience by putting the patient first.
- Advances a patient-centered approach to care by focusing on safety and operational efficiencies.
- Optimizes patient access, scheduling, and staff utilization to enhance operational efficiency.
- Fosters collaboration between physicians, staff, and hospital administration to streamline practice operations.
- Defines and monitors KPIs (e.g., cancer screening rates, procedural outcomes) to meet and exceed national benchmarks and accreditation standards.
- Collaborates with team on improving quality metrics in their service.
- Community & Institutional Outreach
- Develops and implements outreach programs to expand access to GI services in the surrounding communities and affiliated hospitals.
- Builds strong partnerships with referring physicians, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Promotes educational and awareness programs to enhance patient engagement and community involvement.
- Compliance Management
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and tax laws, and regulatory agency standards of compliance.
- Interprets and standardizes fiscal and regulatory standards to ensure compliance with government and regulatory reporting and third-party agencies.
- Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes the team concept within their division and hospital-wide.
- Participates in committees, task forces, and projects as appropriate.

Education & Experience Requirements
• Master’s degree in nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field required.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in clinical operations, practice management, or hospital administration, preferably within Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, or a procedural specialty.
• Strong background in managing inpatient and outpatient operations, staffing, and financial oversight.
• Demonstrated success in program development, physician collaboration, and strategic planning.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, budgeting, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
- Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly while attending to needs of patients, visitors and staff.
- Requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time.
- Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given during the course of a day.
- Demonstrates ability to follow written and oral instructions required for the position.
- Demonstrates ability to analyze multidimensional problems into component parts and sort out tasks in priority order to solve the problem.
