Get to Know Your Team: 

  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for assisting in the delivery of personalized, professional and quality patient care in the performance of all Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations and adherence to MRI safety rules.
  • Explains MRI procedure to the patient and/or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Performs MRI procedures ascertaining appropriate imaging parameters are utilized, providing physician with a quality diagnostic procedure.
  • Adheres to MRI safety rules ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff members.
  • Provides minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Seeks additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.
  • Transports patients to and from Imaging Services ascertaining that the patient is relocated without injury or incident.
  • Maintains MRI procedure rooms and work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintains effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.
  • Performs quality control on equipment and notifies management immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.
  • Ascertains the delivery of patient care is provided in a personalized, professional and quality manner.
  • Ascertains that Joint Commission, local, state and federal accrediting and licensing bodies’ requirements are met.
  • Assists in the Quality Assurance / Improvement Program of Imaging Services.
  • Enters and retrieves patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Hospital Information System in a proficient manner.
  • Maintains MRI procedure rooms and work area in a clean and organized manner.
Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
    • Must obtain ARRT or ARMRIT within one (1) year of employment. 
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous employment as an MRI Technologist.
