Job Description

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS  
    • Education High School Graduate plus Health Care courses or on the job training specific to Hospital of Medical Office skills.
    •   Experience A minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care setting preferred. CPR certified preferred. Demonstrated proficient computer, written and verbal communication, telephone, cash handling and customer service skills. Requires (1) month on the job training to adequately attain job proficiency. Orientation and training are age specific.

    • Physical This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Normal hospital environment. Position requires normal or corrected eyesight, hearing within normal range, frequent walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling wheelchairs up to 350 pounds, and sitting. Operates FAX machines, copiers, printers, and uses computer terminal; regularly requires lifting, stair climbing, and carrying up to 50 pounds; requires direct patient contact.

      JOB SUMMARY
    • Arranges for the efficient and orderly retrieval and delivery of patient’s belongings, ensures that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures, assists in patient and visitor transportation throughout the medical center, works with and has access to confidential patient information, and may have to travel to SBBH and CSU on occasion. Position requires making frequent decisions or actions following general operating procedures, sometimes without clearly defined precedents. Position requires a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to detail. Position requires diplomacy and a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, medical staff and SBMC personnel. The Belongings Coordinator is responsible for all belongings that are logged in, which may include valuable jewelry, large sums of money, and valuable electronics. The Belongings Coordinator will also be responsible for lost and found throughout the medical center. Job responsibility includes belongings in any area under the direction of the Security Director. Must produce monthly reports.
