JOB SUMMARY
The Teacher II at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for the care and education of children at the Child Care Center, as well as supporting effective and efficient operation of the center. This role collaborates closely with the Team Leader and Teacher I role and engages strong communication and organizational skills to design and deliver lessons, engage effectively with students, parents, and team members, maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, and provide a clean and safe environment while using time and budget efficiently to support effective operations and a high quality Child Care Center experience.

FUNCTIONS
Basic Requirements:

Maintains a clean, safe and stimulating environment in the classroom, outside and other areas of child care.

Remains responsible for following an educational program of activities in line with NMMC educational goals and objectives.
-
Plans for and implement special activities which apply to other age groups in cooperation with goals and philosophy of NMMC Child Care.

Attends all staff meetings and educational programs provided by NMMC which you have been assigned.

Assists in lesson planning, record keeping and evaluating.

Meets 15 hours staff development requirement.

Remains responsible for any lesson plans, today sheets, special activities, supply request, care of equipment and classroom materials.

Remains responsible for meeting special needs of children(ex. Special diet, allergies, health issues).

Provides transportation support as assigned, which includes driving a company-owned van to transport school-aged children to and from public elementary schools within the city, and transporting children ranging from 4 years old to school-aged for field trips..

Uses time wisely and adheres to all NMMC scheduling for arrival, departure, lunch and breaks to ensure the safety of the children and the respect of other fellow employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood. Required
-
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent willing to consider a HS Diploma with 4 years experience beyond the required minimum. Required

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
-
CDA-Child Development Associate. required if candidate does not have a Early Childhood degree. Upon Hire. Required

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Must maintain CPR Certification. Upon Hire. Required
Work Experience
-
1-3 years. 2 years' prior experience in early childhood. Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-
Must have ability to read and write English to communicate with others effectively.

Must be able to communicate orally with age appropriate children.
-
Must be willing to continually increase knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education and share knowledge with others.
-
Must have safety and infection control knowledge to secure a clean and safe environment for children.
-
Must read and reference MSDH regulations provided in the classroom regularly.

Must be able to work as a team with other NMMC Child Care Center employees to create and implement a stimulating environment while meeting the physiological, emotional and intellectual needs of each child.

Must follow department uniform requirements.

Must follow department grooming, hand washing and comply with Tummy Safe food safety standards.

Must use time and energy to enhance NMMC Child Care environment for children, parents and other staff.

Must maintain confidentiality policy that pertains to all areas of working with children, parents and other staff.

Must take concerns to area supervisor, assistant director or director.

Must seek to improve services and products, respond to customer feedback.

Must posses the to work independently, without close supervision, self motivated.

Must demonstrate daily his/her knowledge of age appropriate activities and expectations of each child.

Must set an example to all other staff a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change to meet the needs of NMMC Child Care Center.
