Healthcare Learning Management System (LMS) & Clinical Placement Coordinator

Provide for day-to-day management of hospital-wide learning management systems (LMS), student placement coordination, and administrative operations of the Clinical Education Department. This is a full on-site position that requires a strong customer service mindset.

  • Location: Anacortes, WA, Onsite
  • Schedule: 1 FTE / Days
  • Salary Ranges: $28.91-$43.37 per hour

What you will be doing: 

Administer and maintain the hospital’s LMSs to support employee education, annual regulatory training, clinical competencies, and continuing education requirements.

LMS Administration:

  • Create, assign, track, and manage courses, curricula, assessments, and reports within the LMS.
  • Enroll users, manage roles and permissions, and troubleshoot LMS access or system issues.
  • Monitor completion rates and generate reports for leadership, regulatory, and accreditation purposes.
  • Partner with education and clinical teams to deploy new learning content and update existing materials.
  • Serve as primary contact with LMS vendors for system updates, enhancements, and issue resolution.  

Student Clinical Placement Coordination: 

  • Coordinate student clinical placements for affiliated academic programs (e.g., nursing, allied health, medical assistant, and other healthcare disciplines.)
  • Act as liaison between the hospital and educational institutions regarding placement requests, scheduling, capacity, and expectations.
  • Manage student onboarding processes, including tracking required documentation such as immunizations, background checks, and facility orientation.
  • Coordinate student access to appropriate learning systems, policies, and resources.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, educators, and preceptors to align placements with clinical operations and educational goals.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student placements, affiliations, and compliance requirements. 

 

Clinical Education Department Operations Support: 

  • Coordinate department room reservations and meeting calendars for department planning activities.
  • Responsibility for department communications to and from external vendors and academic entities.
  • Ensure department resources and equipment are available to include office supply/resupply and work order submission for equipment repair.
  • Develop and maintain user guides, training materials, and resources to support LMS utilization.
  • Customer Service: As the public face of the Department, provide support to internal and external customer for accessing and troubleshooting LMS program, and other technology. Communicate with partners and customers via multiple methods to include phone, email, video conferencing. Incorporate CARES values with all interactions. 

What you will bring to the role: 

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Education, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in an administrative, education, clinical education, or training support role within a healthcare or academic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar hospital wide systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and/or other productivity software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Be able to assist with the management of complex projects and flexible to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Be willing to provide support cross departments in line with Island Health CARE values.  

Work Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes and communicable diseases as related to a health care environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

Physical Demands: 

  • While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, and have hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone.
  • The employee is often required to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arm.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus sufficient to operate computer systems.
