About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own management, maintenance, and uptime of our customer and shared system databases. You will also partner with our team to maintain and evolve a custom machine learning model built in-house. Our stack includes Azure cloud services, MS SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, PowerShell, and Kubernetes. 


What you'll do

  • Own and evolve tooling, architecture and management of our high-volume single-tenant data platform that hosts 2000+ customer databases across 10+ MS SQL Server instances.
  • Manage and up-level database and schema management of live production databases via a unified and resilient web-based tool.
  • Monitor and ensure database health, replication and performance; proactively respond to incidents and lead root cause analysis.
  • Build a pipeline using Azure tools & Azure ML ecosystem to iterate, improve and retrain our custom in-house machine learning model.
  • Partner with Data Engineer to maintain data pipelines that synchronize customer data from MSSQL databases to Azure Synapse using native Azure services and Change Data Capture (CDC)
  • Partner with application and product teams to design scalable data solutions that power analytics, reporting, and AI-first applications.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of production experience in data engineering or database administration, with strong ownership of data platforms.
  • Proven DBA-level expertise in Microsoft SQL Server: backup & recovery, performance tuning, index management, query optimization, and high availability configurations.
  • Experience building tools and automation for day-to-day database maintenance and schema-updates with alerting and monitoring.
  • Deep expertise in the Azure data ecosystem including Azure Delta Lake, Synapse Analytics, AI Foundry and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

The pay range for this role is:
150,000 - 170,000 USD per year(Huntington Beach, CA)
