Required License/Registration/Certification Licensed Pharmacist Physical Requirements This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures. Shift Day shift, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.with some holiday requirements. Hours and days of the week are subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department. Holidays are not currently a requirement, but always subject to change. Requires some on-call. Fully remote schedules available. Job Summary In this position, the candidate will provide a variety of specialty pharmacy services including obtaining prior authorizations for patients requiring medically administered medications prescribed within UK Healthcare. Responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison between the UK Specialty Pharmacy and UK’s infusion centers; ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented for all patients in their care and monitoring care appropriately. Will also facilitate the formulary review process for infused medications; participate in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area; assume responsibility for supervising PharmD students, technicians, and undergraduate and graduate student teachers; and provide educational programs for hospital staff. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience PharmD (highly preferred); and completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program (or equivalent experience), preferred.
