Position Title: Cardiac Device Specialist

Position Summary: The Cardiac Device Specialist provides direct and indirect care of patients with cardiac pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization devices, and implanted loop recorders in accordance with the departmental process. The CDS will work with device representatives and physicians of CMC Cardiology to accomplish both clinical and administrative duties for the best care of CMC patients. Qualifications: Education:
  • Associate degree in a related health field required.
Experience
  • Experience accurately interpreting transmission and interrogation information required. Minimum 3 years cardiology and cardiac device experience required, Understanding of medical terminology required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Registered by the ARRT (N) and/or by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Certified under the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Enrolls and interrogates patients with cardiac devices and recognizes abnormalities, malfunctions, and alert indicators and reports these findings to their provider.
  • Performs in-clinic device checks per department guidelines.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge and ability to interpret complex cardiac rhythms.
  • Assists in scheduling patients for follow-up, remote monitoring, or replacements as indicated.
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge of all manufacturer’s devices required.
  • Educates patients and families regarding device function and remote and/or clinic follow-up.
  • Assess and escalate remote checks on devices meeting current physician protocol.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Explorer.
