*Overview*
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced *Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)* to lead operations in a retail pharmacy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, comprehensive knowledge of community pharmacy practice, and a dedication to providing exceptional patient care. This role is essential in ensuring full regulatory compliance, managing pharmacy staff, maintaining efficient workflows, and supporting safe and accurate medication dispensing. The Pharmacist in Charge will serve as the primary point of contact for pharmacy operations, promoting a culture of safety, service, and professionalism.
*Duties*
* Oversee all daily retail pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, Board of Pharmacy requirements, and HIPAA standards.
* Ensure accurate and efficient prescription processing, verification, and dispensing.
* Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, storage, and returns, to minimize shortages, overstock, and expired medication.
* Provide direct patient care services such as medication therapy management (MTM), chronic disease education, adherence counseling, and over-the-counter recommendations.
* Administer immunizations and support community health initiatives such as health screenings and wellness programs.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation within pharmacy software systems.
* Lead, train, and supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure high-quality patient service and operational efficiency.
* Resolve medication-related issues, collaborate with prescribers, and ensure clear communication with patients regarding prescriptions and therapy plans.
* Conduct regular internal audits to ensure legal compliance, proper recordkeeping, and adherence to company policies and quality standards.
* Support continuous improvement in workflow optimization, patient safety, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.
*Requirements*
* Active and unrestricted pharmacist license; prior experience as a PIC or retail staff pharmacist strongly preferred.
* Solid understanding of community pharmacy practice, including medication dispensing, patient counseling, and insurance adjudication.
* Strong clinical knowledge, including pharmacology, medication management, and common disease states.
* Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, point-of-sale systems, and inventory management tools.
* Demonstrated experience in providing patient services such as immunizations, MTM, adherence interventions, and OTC consultations.
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to protecting patient privacy.
* Proven leadership ability, including experience supervising pharmacy technicians and managing workflow in a fast-paced retail environment.
Pay: $59.72 - $71.92 per hour
