Role Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations while providing guidance and day-to-day support to the accounting team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role focuses on accurate financial records, dependable close processes, and practical accounting support in a fast-paced HVAC/R construction, service, and sales environment.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with general ledger responsibility
- Experience in a construction, HVAC/R, or project-based environment preferred
- Solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals and accounting best practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Exposure to job costing or project-based accounting
- Experience supporting payroll and basic multi-state compliance
- Experience with Collections, A/R Analysis and Client Correspondence
Accounting Operations
• Own the day-to-day general ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records
• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in coordination with the VP of Finance
• Maintain consistency in accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
• Maintain strong internal controls and segregation of duties
• Support audits, reviews, and external reporting requirements as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and efficiency
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax, labor, and regulatory requirements
