Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated hands-on Accounting Manager to join our team at Shannahan Crane and Hoist, a division of American Equipment Holdings. As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial information. This is a key leadership role within our organization, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions and reporting.
• Complete month-end close procedures for accurate accounting and timely preparation of financial reports.
• Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper recording and documentation of financial transactions.
• Generate weekly and monthly reports as requested.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to the accounting team.
• Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
• Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Support external audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; previous experience as a degreed accountant is preferred.
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, including advanced skills in Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• CPA or CMA certification is not required but desirable.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time office position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
