Travel Training SupervisorAre you passionate about helping individuals navigate their communities with confidence? If you're a strong leader with a heart for service and a talent for problem-solving, we want you on our team!As the Travel Training Supervisor, you will:
  • Oversee a team of Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Travel Trainers and play a critical role in the programs success, fostering a climate of communication, cooperation, and respect for customers.
  • Supervise, coach, develop, set goals, and complete staff performance evaluations.
  • Be knowledgeable in the principles of Travel Training, the program scope, and working with individuals and communities of focus.
  • Provide support coverage for training sessions or events as needed, with potential exposure to extreme weather.
  • Work with management and the team to inform, create, and improve data collection forms and processes.
  • Provide support and leadership with data quality and reporting.
  • Update monthly and quarterly information for applicable grant funding, program efficiency, key performance indicators, and the program dashboard.
  • Actively work with travel trainers, customers, and community partners to align resources and identify new opportunities to better serve the community.
  • Oversee the implementation and improvement of the Training Pass program and other similar programs.
  • Provide employee training support and identify training needs in collaboration with the Manager and Community Engagement Specialist.
  • Be responsible for continuous improvement efforts with the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) years of experience in a community-facing, customer service, or related role providing face-to-face information, solving problems and resolving customer inquiries.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a supervisor or lead worker, demonstrating conflict resolution and diplomacy.
  • Working with underrepresented communities, including people with disabilities, aging communities, English second language speakers, or other challenging experiences.
  • Creating schedules for employees and working in a team. Supervising employees that work remotely and in-person.
  • Previous experience with program management, community engagement, and data collection creation and processes.
  • Experience with Travel Training or related work, as well as program oversight and development are desired but can be provided.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • Associate degree in humanities, social work, community health and leadership, education, community and society, or related field.
  • Must successfully complete required training program provided by UTA.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or other, preferred.
  • Must have a valid Utah driver license with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years; cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.
Skills:
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Teams, general comfort with computer and digital communication and interaction (including iPads and laptops).
  • Interpersonal relationships; Team leadership and development, supervision.
  • Prioritizing, decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Time management; Stress management.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Tracking/recording-keeping and reporting.
Abilities:
  • Lead a team of employees to maintain/improve rider independence and experiences.
  • Observe, coach, correct, motivate, and develop staff ongoing and in structured one-on-one meetings and team settings.
  • Being flexible and adaptable, providing feedback and insights on improvements, and informing new and updated processes.
  • Use sensitivity and diplomacy to function effectively under difficult or stressful situations.
  • Communicate with UTA staff, Travel Training staff, and customers and maintain good customer relations in-person, over the phone and via email.
  • Work and communicate well with employee team members, riders, and other UTA departments.
  • Read and understand training materials, operating manuals, operating and safety rules, employee expectations, and directives.
  • Work independently without supervision.
  • Hold employees accountable for their work performance and coach them on improvements.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the job, including continuous walking and carrying supplies.
