Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll and Benefits Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for processing payroll, administering employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
- Assist with processing payroll for employees on a biweekly basis
- Verify and enter payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Maintain accurate payroll records and update employee payroll information as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with tax reporting, including W-2s, 1099s, and payroll tax filings
Benefits Administration:
- Assist employees with benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Maintain accurate records of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks
- Coordinate with benefit providers and ensure timely payments and reporting
- Educate employees on benefit options and eligibility requirements
- Process and track leaves of absence, including FMLA, FAMLI, and disability claims
- Communicate with employees and leave/disability carriers regarding claims and absences
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to benefits administration
Accounting
- Accounting data entry and filing
- Back up to accounts payable
- Accounting special projects and research as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree in accounting, human resources, or a related field is a plus)
- Experience in payroll processing and benefits administration preferred
- Proficiency in payroll and HR software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or similar systems)
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employee benefits programs
- Prior experience and knowledge of leave of absence and disability administration and regulations preferred.
- Excellent numerical and data entry skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll and benefits
- Strong communication and customer service skills to assist employees with payroll and benefits inquiries
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and sensitively

Salary: $21 - $26 / hour
