The Medical Access Assistant (MAA) Specialist main role is to help employees find available physicians and can assist with scheduling and confirming physician appointments. This position acts as a patient access coordinator for patients in the California Medical Provider Network (MPN).

Essential Job Functions

  • Locates/confirms participating MPN Providers who accept Workers' Compensation patients
  • Schedules appointments which includes: faxing paper work, confirming appointments, and communicating appointment details to the original requesting party
  • Responds to calls, faxes, or messages within 24 hours and documents resolution for referrals within 72 business hours
  • Works directly with the Director of Customer Relations to ensure clear and consistent communication throughout the process
  • Update Provider demographics as needed and informs Customer Relations Department of Providers who are no longer accept Workers' Compensation patients
Requirements:
  • Must possess a High School Diploma/GED plus two (2) years of customer service experience preferably in a healthcare environment or an Associate's Degree in Business or related field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of customer service experience preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
