Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Support Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This role plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care by managing front-desk operations, supporting patient intake, and coordinating patient services. The ideal candidate will have a customer-first attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Engagement & Support: Greet patients and visitors, ensuring they have a positive first impression. Manage the waiting area and ensure timely communication about wait times.
Front Desk Management: Oversee front desk workflows, coordinate with medical assistants (MAs), and maintain provider schedules.
Patient Intake & Registration: Accurately register and update patient information, verify insurance details, and ensure proper documentation of personal and financial information.
Financial Transactions: Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles, and issue payment receipts. Manage daily deposits and prepare bank deposits as per company policy.
Medical Records Management: Maintain, file, and prepare medical records as needed. Process requests for medical record releases and ensure timely filing/scanning of all correspondence.
Administrative Support: Assist with case manager scheduling and coordinate follow-up appointments. Answer phone calls, schedule patient visits, and handle walk-in patient inquiries professionally.
Health Advocacy: Provide support to patients in navigating healthcare services, such as interpreter requests, prescription assistance, and transportation arrangements.
Compliance & Confidentiality: Handle patient information with the utmost confidentiality and adhere to regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Customer-Centric Approach: Strong focus on customer service and patient experience.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and clinical staff.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize competing responsibilities.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and general computer literacy.
Healthcare Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
Calm Under Pressure: Ability to react calmly and effectively in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Skills: Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and EHR systems.
Other Requirements: Ability to maintain confidentiality, basic mathematical skills, and adherence to safe work practices.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a medical-related customer service role.
Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred but not required.
Physical & Mental Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to push or pull objects up to 100 lbs. of force.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
Fine motor skills to operate equipment and/or machinery.
Ability to drive and operate a vehicle.
Ability to receive and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
Logical reasoning for problem-solving, both simple and complex.
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Occasional travel may be required for clinic activities (e.g., meetings or training).
