Under the direction of Manager/Supervisor(s), provides transportation service for patients from neonates to geriatrics and patient related materials. These materials may include, but are not limited to specimens, oxygen tanks, package, slips, supplies, medication orders, labs, etc. May utilize various such as equipment pagers, locks, etc. Performs preventive maintenance on all transport equipment as required.
High School Diploma or GED certificate required. One (1) year of customer service experience preferably in a healthcare environment required. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and/or communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties. Ability to communicate with a variety of patients and health care professionals. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, push, pull life and bend with hand and eye coordination in compliance with PM &R Physical Assessment. Must successfully complete UH’s body mechanics training within three (3) months of hire into position. Ability to complete CPR instruction. Must be able to respond to changing staffing needs and shift rotations with required advance notification.
