Minimum requirements for Education / Experience / Certifications
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA/GED REQUIRED.
Minimum 1 year of sterile processing or surgical technology experience
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Any 1 (one) of the following certifications listed below from either professional organization:
Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS)
Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)
Certified Sterile Processing Management (CSPM)
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL)
Other nationally recognized SPD certifications may be considered.
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy;
Preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching required;
General knowledge of function and maintenance of instrumentation;

Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking.
