General Description: Under limited direction, plans, organizes and supervises the processing, storage, and distribution of processed sterile supplies, instruments, equipment and Case Carts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Three (3) years hospital experience in sterile processing with a minimum of one (1) year supervisory or lead experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:
Technician certification from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required within 6 months of hire date. Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification required within 6 months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment. Knowledge of applicable sanitation and hygiene standards. Knowledge of proper safety practices of steam and gas plasma sterilization. Knowledge of simple record keeping principles and practices. Effective customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other medical staff, peers and subordinates. Effective verbal and written communication. Good computer skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Skills in supervisory methods.
