The primary purpose of the Director Budgeting and Decision Support position is to direct the preparation of the Hospital’s mission based operating and capital budgets and to monitor operating performance in accordance with the plan as approved by University Hospital’s Board of Directors. The Director develops procedures to monitor variances and effect corrections to return performance to required norms. The use of both internal and external operational benchmarks is paramount in performing the duties of the position. Directs the Payroll and Accounts Payable functions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field required. Masters’ Degree preferred. Eight (8) years of professional experience in accounting, preferably in a hospital, including five (5) years in hospital budgeting. Reimbursement experience in a hospital or related field required especially in the areas of Medicare and New Jersey Medicaid. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory/managerial experience required. Understanding of Federal and Statutory Regulations pertaining to Hospital Reimbursement and related Revenue Subsidies required. Good oral and written communication skills required. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment required. Additional related professional experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
