The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI) is a part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences. The Samueli Institute is working to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-informed treatment modalities, educating the public, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.
The Administrative Director of Research independently manages and provides technical direction in conjunction with the Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer for a complex academic and research programs of high visibility at the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI). In collaboration with the faculty leaders, the Administrative Research Director will direct the long-term vision and goals, policies and procedures, as well as managing ongoing operations of program(s) and oversees a large research operational budget to achieve objectives.
The Administrative Director of Research is also responsible for recruiting and retaining industry leaders to partner with the research program in achievement of the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute’s research goals. Develops and manages a membership program for industry partners and oversees the administrative operations for the BraveNet collaboration, a 29-site international research collaborative that houses data for over 29 institutions which sees a total of over 200,000 patients. The Administrative Director of Research will also oversee, through subordinate research team members, all elements of research program administration, including establishing program partners, study operations, study proposals and research goals. The Director will also utilize their highly specialized expertise in research or academic specific concepts and objectives to support the faculty leaders in their various research studies.
The Director is also responsible for leading the SSIHI Research Core team which is a growing team of stuff and integrative health faculty with various and multiple research studies. The Research Director plays a crucial role in clinical trials and SSIHI’s various multisite, complex research trials. They lead the design and implementation of trials, ensuring that they meet regulatory standards and scientific rigor. This includes developing trial protocols, coordinating with clinical and research staff, and monitoring the progress of ongoing trials to ensure they adhere to ethical guidelines and achieve desired outcomes.
Additionally, the Research Director is responsible for supporting the Samueli Endowed Chairs research studies and research teams. By leveraging their expertise, the Research Director fosters an environment of innovation and excellence, bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical, patient-centered applications. They also actively seek funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the SSIHI’s and UCI’s reputation in the integrative medicine scientific community.
