Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate general ledger financial data on internal systems and related databases (e.g., AllScripts, BudEase).
  • Develop, uphold, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's financial environment.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental systems, records, and reports.
  • Participate in the yearly budget process.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and record journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Act as a backup for bi-weekly payroll processing and supplemental payrolls.
  • Oversee and assist with annual and quarterly payroll report filings and workers' compensation audits.
  • Conduct periodic payroll and benefit accrual audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in the monthly closing process by analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Complete financial and statistical analysis for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Act as backup to Accounts Payable, including vendor maintenance, invoice vouchering, and addressing vendor inquiries.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of Federal, State, and other financial reports as required.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • -OR-
    • A minimum of five years (5+) of hospital/healthcare finance experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • None required.
  • Experience:
    • Entry-level candidates with a Bachelor's Degree are welcome.
    • Alternatively, five or more years of relevant work experience without a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (including Pivot Tables & Lookup Functions).
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and analyze financial reports.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
    • Ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
    • Medical or healthcare accounting experience is highly preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift/carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally push/pull equipment and filing cabinet drawers weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to access documents and supplies.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, and fingering to complete paperwork and use the phone and computer.
  • Constant talking, hearing, and seeing to interact with staff and vendors.

  • Work is performed inside with minimal exposure to biohazardous materials.
